New Volunteers

Welcome to Fir Grove! Fir Grove welcomes parent, family and community member volunteers at a number of special events and in-school opportunities throughout the year!

Volunteers are a valuable part of what makes Fir Grove such a wonderful school. No matter your situation, skill level, interest area or schedule, there are a lot of ways to get involved!

Registering to Volunteer

The first step is registering on the district’s volunteer management site My Impact.

  • Beaverton School District requires all volunteers to have passed a background check prior to volunteering in our schools.
  • Proof of COVID vaccination or exemption is no longer required to volunteer.
  • Visit the Beaverton School District Volunteer page here to get started with your application.

Once approved, you may login to your My Impact profile here to view and sign up for volunteer opportunities, or look for Fir Grove’s weekly Volunteer Update email from the PTO Volunteer Coordinator.

Please send an email to Beaverton School District here if you would like to add or remove a school location on your My Impact account.

Please feel free to email the PTO Volunteer Coordinator with any questions or to discuss volunteer roles that will be a good fit for your schedule, skills, and interests!

Volunteer Orientation & Reminders

Download the Fir Grove Volunteer Orientation here.

Please note that the video on Slide 6 demonstrating signing in and starting the volunteer timeclock on the My Impact app may not work.

Below are notes that supplement the above Volunteer Orientation PowerPoint and provide additional explanation to the presentation.

What is My Impact?

My Impact is a website used to sign up for volunteer opportunities and to sign in to log volunteer hours. There is also a My Impact App available in the Android and Apple app stores so you can easily access My Impact on your phone.

The weekly Volunteer Update emails are often linked directly to volunteer opportunities on My Impact.

Anyone can be a volunteer!

Relatives and family friends can sign up as volunteers by going through the same process as you! If you know of someone who wants to help, feel free to share this site with them.

Sight & Sound Policy

Volunteers should not be alone with students. Any time you’re working with a student, you should be within sight and sound of a staff member.

Signing In/Out When Volunteering

You will need your My Impact log in information to clock in and out of every volunteer session at Fir Grove.

When you arrive to volunteer, make sure you either have your My Impact log in information handy or download the My Impact App on your phone and save time by having the app remember your log in ID and password. Forgotten passwords are a common occurrence that slow down volunteer start times.

  • When you arrive at Fir Grove to volunteer, push the buzzer to be let into the Main Office vestibule and let the office staff you are there to volunteer.
  • Please fill out your information (date, time, name and volunteering purpose/location) on the Paper Sign In Sheet on the cabinet in the Main Office vestibule.
  • Please wear a green Volunteer Badge anytime you are in the school so that staff can identify you.
  • Clocking In on My Impact: Using the app on your phone or visiting My Impact on the Chromebook on the cabinet in the Main Office vestibule, log in and please “Start Clock” in My Impact and select the activity you will be doing.
  • When you finish volunteering, return to the Main Office vestibule and record your sign out time on the Paper Sign In Sheet and clock out of My Impact before exiting via the school’s main entrance.
  • Clocking Out on My Impact: Log out of My Impact using the same Chromebook or your phone app. Some app users may need to tap “Stop Clock” twice in order to fully log out.
  • If you forget to log out of My Impact after your volunteering session, you can log hours after the fact on your own in My Impact online or the app. To log hours in the app, tap: Menu>Hours>Log hours for: Fir Grove. You can also email the PTO Volunteer Coordinator for assistance in logging volunteer hours after the fact.

Please feel free to email the PTO Volunteer Coordinator with any questions regarding New Volunteer orientation.
