Fir Grove welcomes parent, family and community member volunteers at a number of special events, field trips and in-school opportunities throughout the year!

Volunteers are a valuable part of what makes Fir Grove such a wonderful school. No matter your situation, skill level, interest area or schedule, there are a lot of ways to get involved!

New Volunteers

Beaverton School District requires all volunteers and field trip chaperones to submit a volunteer application via their Raptor volunteer management system and consent to an Oregon criminal records background check prior to any volunteering at Fir Grove.

Please prioritize submitting your application so you won’t have to delay getting involved!

Get started on your Raptor volunteer application here.

Approved Volunteers

Once your volunteer application has been approved, you may sign up for volunteer opportunities on ParentSquare (search for “volunteer opportunity”). Look out for our Fir Grove PTO Volunteer Update with the latest volunteer opportunities posted in ParentSquare each week! If you are interested in volunteering in your student’s classroom, contact your student’s teacher directly.

When you come to Fir Grove to volunteer, remember to bring your ID and check in at the Main Office – scan your ID and print a badge to check in and out of your volunteer shift. For faster volunteer check in, download the Raptor Safe app here and scan the QR code it generates to check in/out of your volunteer shift at the Main Office. More info on the Raptor App below.

Non-Parent Community Volunteers

Do you know someone who would love to get involved or even just be “in the know” of volunteer opportunities at the school? We LOOOOVE our volunteers, whether parents, grandparents, guardians, aunts, uncles, friends, you name it! Here’s how they can get started:

Step 1: Submit your volunteer application in Raptor, same as the process above

Step 2: Once your background check is approved, create a Community Volunteer ParentSquare Account. This will connect you to Fir Grove and all the opportunities for volunteering and volunteer sign ups. Volunteer sign ups are now on ParentSquare, NOT on Raptor.

Raptor App for Easier Check In

The district’s Raptor Safe App offers a convenient & secure way for visitors/volunteers to verify their identity and a faster way to check in when arriving at a school. Instead of scanning your ID to check in, set up the Raptor Safe app here and scan the QR code it generates to check in/out of your volunteer shift at the Main Office.

Serve on the PTO Board of Directors

Each spring, our PTO nominates and elects members of the Fir Grove community to serve on the Board of Directors for the upcoming school year.

So many Fir Grove programs, activities and events can’t happen without help and support from Fir Grove families! Joining the PTO Board ensures the continuation and longevity of these programs that enrich the elementary school experience for our students.

Community members with experience in accounting, bookkeeping, fundraising, sales, marketing, communications, event planning, project management, bilingual/multicultural environments, client/customer relations, management/leadership, nonprofits, education, child development and more! are encouraged to bring their skills to serve in a volunteer Board Member or Coordinator position for the Fir Grove PTO, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

The Board positions available each year will vary based on term length as outlined in the PTO Bylaws, and we also elect a number of Members-at-Large each year for those wanting to learn more, gain Board experience and are willing to help where needed. We also provide training to every Board Member or Coordinator role.

Attend the next Fir Grove PTO Community Meeting or email the PTO President to learn more about where your skills and background can support the PTO Board! Serving on the Fir Grove PTO Board is a great way to support fundraising and enrichment programs at our Title I school!

We have been fortunate enough to work with so many wonderful community organizations and businesses over the years who have supported Fir Grove with donated School Supplies, Food & Beverage, Prizes for our students, and more!
